Cora was born with a congenital heart condition called TAPVR, short for Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return. She was 11 hours old and weighed 6lbs when she underwent open heart surgery to repair/move the pulmonary vein that was connected in the wrong place. She spent less than 2 weeks in the NICU and was discharged to home 20 days after surgery. Two months after the surgery she needed a Cardiac Catherization for an obstructed vein. While the procedure was successful no one could tell us, at the time, why the vein had narrowed after surgery and if this would be an ongoing need. Cora is considered to have a repaired heart condition at this point with no need for further intervention, only yearly monitoring. This past year has been very uneventful medically speaking. Currently she's NOT on medication and has no restrictions in her daily life, we're very lucky!

Cora is currently a first grader who loves reading, recess, and staying active through gymnastics, swimming, and baseball. She is looking forward to attending various camps this summer and enjoys spending time at the library, playing with her brother and our new dog, Tucker.
