Cora was born with a congenital heart condition called TAPVR, short for Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return. She was 11 hours old and weighted 6lbs when she underwent open heart surgery to repair/move the pulmonary vein that was connected in the wrong place. She spent less than 2 weeks in the NICU and was discharged to home 20 days after surgery. Two months after the surgery she had a Cardiac Catherization for an obstructed vein. At the time no one could tell us why the vein had narrowed after surgery and if this procedure would be an ongoing need. Cora is considered to have a repaired heart condition at this point with no need for further intervention, only yearly monitoring. This past year her cardiologist wanted a lung scan, with dye, in addition to her yearly echocardiogram. Cora was not a fan of the IV, but overall she handled the long day like a champ. Currently she's not on medication and has no restrictions, we're very lucky!

Cora currently attends pre-school 5 mornings a week in preparation for starting kindergarten next fall. She is enjoying participating in gymnastics and martial arts classes. Her favorite things to do is go on adventures with mom (and dad when he can join us), hang out at the library and explore new places.
